RECORDS OF THE MONTH

Over the last year we've been posting recommended records, chosen by some of our nearest and dearest. To honour of these tips, they have been curated in one place. From acid jams to edits and soca sessions to sub-sass weapons, there's a fine selection of gems.

CHEZ DE MILO

Straight off the back of Love International, Chez De Milo kept it bumpin' for us with a classy 90s cut.

Acid Jesus - Move My Body

Reason: "This one has been on heavy rotation for me since I picked it up at Bikini Wax in Berlin a couple months back. Works just as nicely in a dimly lit basement as it does on a chunky festival stage. 1993 was clearly some year..."

ELIZA ROSE

Our old friend, the talented DJ, Presenter and Producer, Eliza Rose, shares a top tip with us.

Nelly Furtado - Say It Right (Quentin Harris Remixes)

Reason: "An accidental Discogs discovery, I do love a cheeky mash up, ms furtado voices plus Quinton's mastery of all things deep and soulful. Loves it."

MELODY

Top selector, party starter and DRB family member, Melody, shares some peak time heat with us.

Will Dobson - Goodies (1999)

Reason: "I found it this summer in a record shop in London! Really sexy UKG tune that will not leave my bag for a while now..."

BOBBY.

Multi-talented label boss, DJ, festival curator and long-standing fabric resident - Bobby.

Log_In - Systema 80's

Reason: "I had to choose this record because I'm sure I've played it more than any other since I bought it last year. It came into my life when I needed it most, and 2024 would not have been the same without it. I hope you enjoy it too."

EMERALD

The ever gifted producer, presenter, prankster, DJ and friend - Emerald, shares a recent favourite with us.

Sound of the Suburbs - Placebo / Mesmorised (2002)

Reason: "I found this recently at Lyrica Archive who used to neighbour the DRB HQ. I particularly love the B-side, proper sexy tech house. The A-side is on the same vibe but a bit tougher, more peak time techno leaning. I've been playing 'Mesmorised' non-stop!"

MELLA DEE

Big shout out to Mella Dee - DJ, producer, artist, promoter and more, with this months record.

North Side Movers - No Change Given

Reason: "Recent digging adventure in the basement of Flashback Records, off Brick Lane. Pulled a few garage rollers at great prices. This one took the shine, bumpy dark side business. Proper roller from the Confetti Records Camp, any time you see something to do with Cofetti it's gotta be picked up, serious stuff."

LUKAS WIGFLEX

Back in April '24, we asked Lukas Wigflex aka Patty Saggers for a track that's been doing the bits for him.

Alexander Skancke - This Is Not Organ House

Reason: "This one hasn't left the bag since I first copped it about a year ago. Doesn't really do much once it gets going but there's this confidence in it's simplicity that I adore, plus the drums are chunky as fuck. Big tip!"

TASH LC

We asked Tash LC for a record that was doing the works for her in the spring time of last year.

Various Artists - Chutney Soca

Reason: "This record is super special to me because I first heard Chutney Soca last year and I was hooooked but didn’t realise any of it was really on vinyl. I found this in my friend Eddo’s mad warehouse in Amsterdam where he’s got this crazy selection of records. It’s so fun and different to any of my other records as it’s such a specific sound. Proper dance floor heat!"

BRUCE

Our old friend Bruce - DJ, singer, and producer, shares a stunning sonic submission with us.

Various Artists - Cire Noire LP

Reason: "From the late, great Mika Vaino's label, Sahko Recordings, this recent compilation selects such a wicked little bunch of weirdos, each stretching out in their own troubled way."

DR BANANA

This month we have an insiders tip from our highest pranking officer & head of all things sincerely important. Our very own... Dr Banana

Blunt Funkers - God's An Astronaut

Reason: "A nice gritty bass driven groover to play towards the beginning of a set, best served ice cold."
